Transport companies can save a lot of money by education their driver while driving. With the fuel prices nowadays companies can save up to thousands of dollars per hear per truck when the driver does not accelerate too fast, does not leave his engine runn9ing while unloading, etc. The first part will be the module that educates the driver. The vehicle will be equipped with a Garmin navigation device. As the Garmin comes with a serial port interface and an API, this will be used to show messages to the driver, when he speeds, over revs, or breaks too hard. As in Africa everything gets stolen that’s not nailed to the ground, the Garmin will also function as the key for the vehicle. The vehicle will not start without the Garmin connected. The data that is shown to the user will also be stored in the tracking devise. And will be sent out to our server when the tracking devise is back in GPRS coverage. The fleet manager will be able to access the data using our website. This module in the website however is not a part of the assignment; the student(s) will mainly be focusing on the embedded software In order to acquire the data used to determine if the diver violates driving policies, the tracking devise needs to listen to the CAN (controller Area Network) – Bus or OBD (on Board Diagnostics (systems fitted in most vehicles. As vehicle manufacturers are not very cooperative on reading data on the CAN- Bus, the student will also have to get approvals from the ethical manufacturers in order for our clients to have the warranty on their vehicles void. The student will be responsible for following the sanders or specifications by the manufactures.

The Trainee IT- Driver Education/Driver Profiling needs to have the following skills:

• Last year student of ICT school/university

Languages and Techniques

• Embedded C
• Garmin API
• CAN(J1939/1708
• OBD
• Good understanding of the ENGLISH LANGUAGE
